Rooted in faith · Growing together

    Humble beginnings.
    A continuing story.

Three homes. Two pastors. One church family.
Our story began in 1986, when Ricky Freeman established Sunset Church of God.

    1. Restored visualization of the original white church building with its gravel parking area

      01 / The beginning 1986

      A step of faith

Ricky Freeman founded the church in this simple white building. With its modest surroundings and gravel parking area, this first home marks the beginning of the Sunset story.

    2. Restored visualization of the church’s second home, a weathered brick building

      02 / The next chapter

      A new place to gather

The congregation later moved to this brick building. Its familiar, weathered exterior remains part of the church’s history and the memories of those who worshiped there.

    3. Sunset Church of God at its present Anaconda Road location

      03 / Our home today

      The story continues

Today, Sunset gathers at 1709 Anaconda Road. Jody Harrison succeeded Ricky Freeman as the church’s second pastor, continuing a ministry of worship, fellowship, and prayer.

We honor founding pastor Ricky Freeman and Pastor Jody Harrison, and the church family that has shared in every chapter.
